Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold officially teased ahead of August 12 launch

Google has officially offered the first glimpse of its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, ahead of its global launch on August 12th. The foldable will debut alongside the rest of the Pixel 11 lineup, which also includes the Pixel 11 Pro and possibly a Pixel 11 Pro XL as well.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold teaser

The teaser doesn’t reveal the phone in full, but it does showcase enough to confirm a familiar design with a few notable refinements. At first glance, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold looks largely similar to last year’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold, retaining Google’s signature camera island and book-style foldable form factor. However, a closer look suggests the camera module has been cleaned up, with the flash and microphone now integrated within the black glass-covered camera bar instead of sitting outside it.

While the design appears familiar, the ‘cleaned up’ camera module is a welcome aesthetic refinement Google needed to make. The teaser also appears to confirm the rumoured Pine colour option. The muted green finish is paired with what looks like a light gold satin-finished frame, as seen in leaked renders shared by Evan Blass.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold specifications: expected

The upcoming foldable is tipped to feature an 8-inch inner display, the same as the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This large display should be good for multitasking, productivity, and media consumption. Google’s leaked marketing for the Pixel 11 series, particularly the Pro Fold, suggests it heavily revolves around Gemini Intelligence, highlighting AI-powered features across productivity, photography, and everyday tasks.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is also rumoured to introduce a new Pixel Glow LED on the rear panel, which is expected to function as a notification light and offer visual alerts. Under the hood, the foldable is expected to be powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chipset and pack a 4,800mAh battery. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold would compete with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the rumoured iPhone Fold.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduced a slimmer profile, a redesigned hinge, and improved durability over its predecessor. With the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the biggest improvements are expected to come from the Tensor G6 chipset and Google’s growing AI ecosystem. For users considering a premium foldable, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold could be worth waiting for, especially if AI features are high on the priority list. However, owners of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold may want to check reviews and comparisons to see if the upgrade is worth it.
