DEHRADUN: Seven staff had been killed after a landslide triggered a large surge of water and particles into an under-construction tunnel of the 444-MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Venture in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Thursday night.
Twenty-two staff had been trapped contained in the tunnel close to Mayapur within the Pipalkoti space after the incident round 7 pm. Twelve staff have to date been rescued, whereas efforts are persevering with to find and evacuate the remaining three.
Groups of the Nationwide Catastrophe Response Drive (NDRF) and State Catastrophe Response Drive (SDRF), assisted by the district administration and police, are finishing up the rescue operation. The deceased had been recognized as Pradeep Singh Panwar, 31, of Tehri district, and Mukesh of Chamoli district, each in Uttarakhand; Durlabh Sharma of Bihar; Vijay, 28, and Jitendra Kumar of Jharkhand; and Lokeshwar and Bhuneshwar.
