The map of European soccer is about to be redrawn. In a shock transfer, the Dutch Soccer Affiliation have appointed Spain’s Xavi Hernandez as the brand new head coach of the Netherlands.
The 46-year-old Barcelona legend succeeds Ronald Koeman, having reached an official settlement with the Dutch Soccer Affiliation that runs till the 2030 World Cup finals.
Xavi mentioned, in his first feedback after signing: “It’s a nice honour to develop into coach of the Dutch nationwide staff”.
He added: “As a graduate of the Barcelona academy, and deeply influenced by figures resembling Johan Cruyff and Rinus Michels, I really feel a particular connection to Dutch soccer”.
The previous Spain star and former Barcelona head coach continued: “You can say that, in a approach, I’m a son of Dutch soccer”.
His appointment opens a brand new chapter for the Netherlands. The Dutch Soccer Affiliation are banking on a footballing philosophy rooted within the Whole Soccer college to hold the nation again to the winners’ podium.
