Star torn apart by black hole 30,000 light yrs from galaxy centre

Researchers discovered an ultrabright flare from a tidal disruption event (TDE), where a star was ripped apart by a wandering supermassive black hole more than 30,000 light-years from its galaxy’s centre. Its existence was first detected in November 2025 as an unusual brightening in a galaxy about 750 million light-years away by Zwicky Transient Facility.
