What’s a photo voltaic eclipse?

A photo voltaic eclipse is when the Solar, Moon and Earth are in alignment, and the Moon passes immediately between the Solar and Earth, casting a shadow on our planet and blocking among the fiery ball’s mild. 

A complete photo voltaic eclipse happens when the Moon completely covers the Solar and for a couple of minutes the day sky turns fully darkish.

A partial eclipse is when the Moon will not be in alignment and solely part of it covers the Solar, making it seem as if a “chunk” of the Solar has been eaten away. 

An annular photo voltaic eclipse is when the Moon is close to its farthest level from Earth. As a result of it’s smaller than the Solar, it doesn’t cowl it fully, leaving a skinny, vibrant outer ring of daylight seen known as the ‘Ring of Hearth.’

The eclipse will begin at 15.34 GMT on August 12, 2026, and the moon’s shadow will cowl the solar for so long as two minutes and 18 seconds. The timing of the eclipse in IST, or Indian Normal Time, is 9.04 pm.

Will photo voltaic eclipse be seen in India?

The photo voltaic eclipse won’t be seen in India as it would happen at evening, and thus, Indians will miss out on witnessing the celestial occasion on August 12, 2026.

However a complete photo voltaic eclipse shall be seen in mainland Europe for the primary time since 1999, with a lot of Spain coming underneath the trail of totality or the realm wherein the moon’s shadow will fall, leading to full darkness throughout daytime.

Western Europe, components of northwestern Africa and a few components of the U.S. will see a partial photo voltaic eclipse.
